Sussinno specializes in underwater paintings of freshwater and saltwater gamefish, in addition to scenes of fisherman pursuing their passion. He grew up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. He moved to Brooklyn, NY attend Pratt University on a full-scholarship and where he graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art in 1979. His art career path was somewhat circuitous, first working at a scrap metal firm in Brooklyn. By 1982 he was back in Maryland, still working at non-art jobs, but pursuing art. In 1986, Sussinno won the Maryland Trout Stamp Contest, launching his art career. Since that time, he has added 20 more fishing stamps to his credit. Sussinno is an avid fly fisherman himself and travels widely to fish and collect reference material for his artworks. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists.
