Rod Serbousek (American 1958 – )

Covey Flush

Oil on canvas, 23.5 x 35.5 inches

Serbousek was born in North Dakota, but later moved to Utah. He developed an interest in wildlife early in life when he would bring home birds, small mammals and reptiles on his many youthful hiking expeditions. He was encouraged to develop his artistic skills by the spouse of his high school art teacher. He won numerous awards and a college scholarship. He received as associate’s degree in graphic design from Salt Lake Community College. Serbousek specializes in painting landscapes and game birds. He achieves his wonderful detail by studying his personal collection of taxidermy mounts and countless photographs that he takes and develops himself. He is sais to have been inspired by the great 19th-century American landscapists Albert Bierstadt and George Inness and British landscapist, John Constable, in addition to Harry Adamson, well-known American wildlife painter. In 1992, Serbousek was named the Utah Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year.
