Scott Zuckerman (American 1951 -- )

Three Pheasants by the Marsh

Watercolor, 27.75 x 39 inches

SoldScott Zuckerman (American 1951 -- )

In his own words, Zuckerman methods and subjects are “part and parcel of the long and spiritual tradition of the connection of man to nature through art”. The visions for his paintings are born in the outdoors where he spends much of his time hunting, fishing, or just observing the natural environs of his native Connecticut. It is his belief that the zenith of painting was reached during period of impressionism, a time when, non-traditional artists focused more an accurate portrayal of light rather than on the exact details of the subject. To Zuckerman, “the most important aspect of a painting is for it to be alive, radiating energy and mood”. It is natural then, that his style combines the traditional with the light and energy of impressionism and expressionism. Zuckerman studied at the Pratt Institute of Art (Brooklyn, NY) and, in addition to his wildlife paintings, he has illustrated covers for Downeast Magazine, Maine Sportsman, and L.L. Bean catalogs. Zuckerman is a member of the Salmagundi Club, where he has also exhibited his works. He has also exhibited at the Carnegie Institute, International.
